King of the Manhattan Lap
The Production
With over 70 laps under his belt, there is something about circumnavigating Manhattan by sea kayak that keeps drawing Kenny Unser back.
This piece was shot over two days. The first day's objective was to shoot the actual paddling lap. To keep up, I shot from the back of a double kayak. The second day's objective was to get some supporting shots and record the interview. I used a FS700 on a GlideCam with a Rode NTG 4 microphone. The lenses were Canon 70-200 and 16- 35. During the editing process, I had to cut some legally questionable content at the expense of the story. I ended up using a denoiser to help with the FS700's noise. The Audio mix was done in Audition.
